Fascinating to hear family stories about this famous horse! Thanks for commenting.

Dana Perrin

My great great great grandfather, Jones Greene came to Texas from Greene County, Illinois. He and Middleton Perry were brothers-in-law. They brought Steeldust with them. Steeldust was the original quarter horse.

Paul Price

My Gr-Gr Uncle Middleton Perry came from Carrollton,Il to Tx in 1844. He settled in Lancaster and had a Quarter Horse named Steeldust. A statue of the horse was at the Tx Fair Park. Many Conferates used his colts during the Civil War. Is this the same horse referred to as the original quarter horse. Wpuls love to know of any info..Thanks..Paul Price
